Manually enter data into environmental journals
- 4 Min.
In some cases, importing emissions data from documents or ledger entries is not possible or practical. For example, employee commuting data is likely to be sourced from employee surveys rather than from a source within Business Central. In these cases, manual entry into Environmental Journals is the best option available.
Manual entry of environmental journal lines
From the main list of environmental journals, choose the relevant journal.
For each line, choose the appropriate environmental account at Account Number. You can view the account card from here using the Show details action, and if necessary adjust details in the Emission Factors FastTab.
You can preview posting details, by clicking on the results in the kg CO2e column. For example,
- Amount or quantity of journal line
- Conversion between units, if any
- Emission Factor sets and version applied
- Breakdown of emissions across different greenhouse gases
Once your journal lines are ready, simply use the Post action from Home menu. This will send the journal line to the Sustainability Reports.
Recurring environmental journal entries
For manual journal entries that recur on a regular basis, it’s a time-saving idea to set up a recurring journal batch. For example, if commuting data is collected on a monthly basis, then a batch of recurring environmental journal lines could already have the relevant environmental accounts and emission factors set up so that the only information needed each month is the distance calculation for each type of commuting.
Hinweis
The recurring environmental journals uses the standard Business Central functionality of recurring journals. You can learn more about this functionality in the Microsoft Learn article about working with recurring journals, listed in the More resources section below.
