Activate Continia eDocuments

  • 4 min.

Only existing users of Document Capture need to worry about activating Continia eDocuments. If you're a new user to Document Capture, it will be set up and activated for you automatically.

Continia eDocuments must be activated manually for existing Document Capture installations because the eDocuments feature only uses one identification template and one XML master template covering all supported electronic formats, such as PEPPOLBIS3 and OIOUBL. Before Continia eDocuments, you've been accustomed to using one XML master template per electronic format.

So, when you transition to Continia eDocuments, managing XML master templates will be considerably simplified, but this also means that you have to decide how to handle your existing XML customer and vendor templates.

You can choose to:

  • Convert your existing XML templates to be compatible with eDocuments.
  • Start fresh and create new templates.

Tip

The easiest way to ensure a seamless transition to the Continia eDocument feature is to convert your existing XML templates into templates that can be used with Continia eDocuments.

The Continia eDocuments Wizard helps you set it all up. Simply navigate to Continia Feature Management and select the Enable checkbox.

Now, follow the few easy steps in the Continia eDocuments Wizard. First you specify how you want to import the eDocument configuration and next you can convert your existing XML templates.

Note

Only XML templates in formats supported by eDocuments are converted.

If you've chosen not to convert your existing XML templates, you should go ahead and create the new ones.

If you converted your existing XML templates, you must manually add any customizations you've previously made to the new identification template and XML master template, including its stylesheet.

Update template configurations

In the traditional way of handling XML documents in Document Capture (XML Import), you were required to manage separate identification templates and XML master templates for each document format.

Continia eDocuments operates with just one identification template and one XML master template for all document formats. It's the same template you use for all document formats.

This means that if you previously made any configurations for existing identification templates or XML master templates (for example, setting up automatic matching or approval), they must be set up again on the new templates. You only have to do this once, though – then you're all set.

Similarly, if you've previously customized an XML master template stylesheet, you must export the changed stylesheet and import it into Continia eDocuments using the XML Structure Setup page. For detailed information about how to update the stylesheet, see Continia Docs: To set up Continia eDocuments(step 5).
