Learn about master template fields

  • 3 min.

Master templates contain multiple template fields that define what information should be recognized when documents are processed. By configuring these master template fields, you can determine whether or not they should be automatically inserted into new vendor templates, which is useful in cases when you know that specific fields are always present in incoming documents. You can also configure each individual vendor template, for example by adding or removing template fields. This is handy for vendor-specific customization, when you know that documents sent by individual vendors tend to always or never include certain fields.

Opening a template field card

If the default master templates capture all necessary fields as they are, you don't have to make any changes to them.

To open a template field card, navigate to the template card. Go to the table in the Fields section, select the line of the field that you want to open, and then select Edit (see screenshot above). You can also simply select the field name.

Warning

Unlike master template configurations, any changes made to the master template fields will not update all existing vendor templates fields. Only new vendor template fields created after the changes made to the master template fields will inherit the changes.

The availability of some of the fields on the template field card depends on the data type of the template field. For example, if the data type is Lookup, you can configure source data, whereas if the data type is Date, you can configure the date format and validation.
