Introduction to G/L Open Entries

  • 3 min.

If you need to work with open entries that are not related to a vendor or customer, this is possible with the G/L Open Entries Module in Continia Finance.

This module is used in a range of scenarios, such as:

  • Reconciling clearing accounts, such as transit accounts
  • Matching credit card transactions to employee expense entries
  • Using interim accounts for handling estimated values of goods

The G/L Open Entries module allows you to use reconciliation actions on G/L accounts, in addition to the standard Business Central function which is limited to customer or vendor accounts.

The module gives you functions to:

  • Apply payments to open entries
  • Apply partial payments, and handle the remaining open balances
  • Generate current and back-dated lists of G/L open entries
  • Automate the reconciliation process by analyzing document numbers, amounts, and other fields

Use G/L Open Entries in combination with other Continia Finance features

The G/L Open Entries Module is further enhanced when used in combination with features from the Essential Module of Continia Finance, which is available at no extra cost.

  • The Extended Applications feature improves the useability of application pages, but adding coloring to show applied and partially applied entries, as well as a shortcut function for setting the applies-to ID.
  • The Balance in Application settings allow for a range of methods for dealing with the remaining balances from partial application to open entries. These settings only become available if Extended Applications is enabled.
  • The Ledger Entry Comments feature allows you to attach notes directly to entry lines, such as explanations for partial payments.
