Register documents

  • 3 min.

Up to this point, you've imported files, recognized the content, and resolved any issues that block their registration in Business Central as documents.

How do you create Business Central documents from imported files?

How can you correct a mistake in a registered document?

When the document list shows a check mark in the OK column for an imported file, this indicates that all of the required fields in the Document Header are ready, and the document can be registered.

Register documents

Your next step is to register the document. By registering the document, you convert all captured information into a real business entity in Business Central.

To register the document in either the document journal or a document card, go to the Home action menu, and use the Register action. You can select multiple document lines to register in a batch.

Tip

You can instead use a job queue to process document registration in the background, so that you can continue working with other tasks in Business Central. Read more about job queues in the Continia Docs article about setting up job queues in Document Capture.

Correct errors in registered documents

As you are preparing documents for posting, you might notice that a detail has been registered incorrectly. Before posting, you can easily go back and reopen a document to update the fields and values in the document journal.

To reopen a document from the document journal:

  1. Change the Status Filter from Open to Registered.
  2. Go to the Process action menu, and use the Reopen action.
  3. Change the Status Filter back to Open to view the reopened document.

To reopen a document from the document card, for example the Purchase Invoice card:

  1. Go to the Invoice menu and use the Document Card action.
  2. Then in the Home menu, use the Reopen action.
